Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a type of treatment used to encourage increased movement and flexibility. This technique uses stainless steel tools that are firmly pressed and moved strategically across the skin.

Who would benefit from IASTM treatment?

This treatment is often recommended for individuals who want to increase their range of motion. They may have posture and lifestyle habits that contribute to tight muscles. They may have had a past injury (ex: sports injury, previous surgery, whiplash, etc.) that caused the tissues to heal in a way that restricts motion.

IASTM works on the "fascia", a type of connective tissue in the body that surrounds your muscles. Read more about fascia here.
